I Am Missing Several Teeth. What Are My Options?

Posted on 2/15/2024 by Weo Admin
A dentist holding a missing toothThe American Dental Association observes that over 120 million Americans have at least one tooth missing. Also, nearly 40 million Americans do not have any teeth at all. If you are an adult and you are missing teeth, you need to know that you have options for replacing your teeth.

Bridges

One option you have if you have several teeth missing is a bridge. Bridges can be cemented into your mouth, or you can remove them each evening. Bridges are great for patients who are missing teeth that are directly opposite each other or right next to each other.

There are several kinds of bridges available, depending on where your missing teeth are located. For example, if you are missing your two front teeth in your upper jaw, you may want to get a Maryland bridge. All bridges use prosthetic teeth along with a method to connect those prosthetic teeth to adjacent teeth.

Dentures

If you are missing a lot of your teeth, you may want to consider dentures. You can opt for partial dentures, or you may want to opt for the full set of dentures. Dentures are a replacement for your teeth. Usually, dentures are made of porcelain teeth cemented into a plastic or acrylic base, but dentures can be made of several different products. Dentures allow you to eat, drink, smile, and laugh without fear that everyone will see your missing teeth.

Implants

If you do not want to try dentures, you can consider getting implants to replace your missing teeth. There are single-tooth implants and multiple-tooth implants available, and many dentists can also replace all of your teeth using the latest implant procedures. Unlike dentures and bridges, implants consist of prosthetic teeth attached to titanium screws implanted into your jawbone. They do not have to be removed, and they are the closest thing to natural teeth that are currently available.

People who are missing teeth need options. If you are trying to figure out how to replace your teeth, why not give our office a call today? We can help give you solutions for your missing teeth.
