That’s why as your Lakewood dentist, we’re proud to offer a variety of cosmetic treatments to help you achieve the beautiful smile of your dreams. Our services include:

Teeth Whitening

Over time, it’s natural for your teeth to become discolored. This may happen because of the food and beverages you consume (such as soda, tea, and coffee), or it may be due to other factors, such as improper oral hygiene, tobacco use, or simply aging. Thankfully, your cosmetic dentist can restore your natural white smile in just one visit with our teeth whitening treatment! We use industry-approved methods to provide a safe and effective treatment that is much more trustworthy than over-the-counter solutions, or DIY whitening methods. With our teeth whitening treatment, you’ll walk out of our office with a dazzling smile!

Do you have minor issues with the appearance of your teeth? Veneers are essentially thin, semi-translucent shells that are customized from porcelain material and permanently bonded to your front teeth. They’re a great way to improve your smile’s appearance without having to resort to an otherwise painful dental procedure. Veneers can fix common problems including:

  • Broken teeth

  • Chipped teeth

  • Crooked teeth

  • Misshapen teeth

  • Discolored teeth

  • Gaps between teeth

Not only are veneers a great aesthetic solution—they can even help you avoid minor orthodontic treatment as well! Our veneer application process is simple and will typically require only two visits to your family orthodontist.

Crowns and Bridges

A crown is a permanent covering that fits over a natural tooth. It is used when the natural tooth is severely decayed, damaged, or cracked. Crowns can be made of a wide range of different materials, including porcelain, acrylic resin, gold, or a combination of these materials. While porcelain provides the most natural appearance, it’s often also the least durable. The process of receiving a crown is as follows:

  • First, the tooth will be numbed to remove the decay in or around it.

  • After that, the tooth will be sculpted down in order to provide a perfect fit for the crown.

  • An impression will be made of the teeth so that a custom-made crown can be created.

  • A temporary crown will be made out of acrylic resin and fitted onto the tooth for one or two weeks while the permanent crown is being created.

  • During the next visit, the temporary crown will be replaced with the permanent crown.

  • Your Lakewood, CA cosmetic dentist will ensure that the crown has the proper look and fit before cementing it into place.

A bridge is a dental device that is used to fill a gap where a tooth is missing. Bridges prevent the shifting of teeth that can occur where there is a gap between teeth, ultimately lead to bite or jaw problems. Bridges also safeguard the integrity of existing teeth and help patients maintain a healthy smile. There are three types of bridges:

  • Fixed bridge – This is the most popular type of bridge. It consists of a filler tooth that’s attached to two crowns that fit over the existing teeth and hold the bridge in place.

  • ‘Maryland’ bridge – This bridge is commonly used to replace missing front teeth. It consists of a filler that’s attached to metal bands that are bonded to the abutment teeth. The metal bands consist of a white-colored composite resin that matches a patient’s natural tooth color.

  • Cantilever bridge – This is often used when there are teeth only on one side of the span. A three-unit cantilever bridge will typically consist of two crowned teeth positioned next to each other on the same side of the missing tooth space. The filler tooth will then be connected to the two crowns, which extend into the missing tooth space or end.

Dental Implants

Dental implants are small, titanium posts that serve as artificial replacements for tooth roots. A dental implant is inserted into a patient’s jaw, and after it has properly fused, a lifelike crown is placed on top of it. This crown mimics the look, feel, and function of a natural tooth. Dental implants can be used for:

  • Single tooth replacement

  • Anterior replacement

  • Posterior replacement

  • Full upper replacement

Dental implants require the same oral care that the rest of your teeth need. With proper oral hygiene, including regular brushing and flossing, a dental implant can last a lifetime!

Composite Bonding

Composite bonding is a quick and relatively inexpensive process, typically lasting under one hour—where composite material (either a plastic or resin) is bonded to an existing tooth in order to improve the appearance of the smile. Unlike crowns or even veneers, composite bonding removes very little of the tooth’s original structure. Bonding can be a solution for fixing:

  • Chipped teeth

  • Cracked teeth

  • Discolored teeth

  • Gaps between teeth

While composite resins come in many different shades and are excellent at matching the natural color of your teeth, they are unfortunately prone to staining. Therefore, in order to maintain the bonding for the longest duration possible, it’s vital to practice good oral hygiene.
