Teeth Whitening

It’s natural over time that your teeth will discolor. It may be caused by the food and beverages you consume (such as soda, tea, and coffee), it may be tobacco use, it may be improper oral hygiene, or it may even simply be the aging process. However, you shouldn’t let that discourage you. Our team is capable of restoring your natural white smile with our teeth whitening treatment in just one visit. Our trained professionals use industry-approved methods to provide a safe and effective treatment that’s much more trustworthy than over-the-counter solutions.

Veneers are essentially thin, semi-translucent shells that are customized from porcelain material and permanently bonded to your front teeth. They’re a great way to improve the appearance of your teeth without having to resort to an otherwise painful dental procedure. Veneers can fix common problems that include:

  • Broken teeth

  • Chipped teeth

  • Crooked teeth

  • Misshapen teeth

  • Discolored teeth

  • Gaps between teeth

Veneers aren’t only a great aesthetic solution – they can help you avoid minor orthodontic treatment as well! Our veneer application process is simple and will typically require only two visits.

Crowns and Bridges

A crown is a permanent covering that fits over a natural tooth. A crown is used when the natural tooth is either severely decayed, damaged, or cracked. Crowns can be made of a wide range of different materials, including porcelain, acrylic resin, gold, or a combination of these. While porcelain provides the most natural appearance, it’s often the least durable. If you’re going to receive a crown, the treatment process follows these steps:

  • First, the tooth will be numbed to remove the decay in or around it.

  • After that, the tooth will be sculpted down in order to provide a perfect fit for the crown.

  • An impression will be made of the teeth so that a custom-made crown can be created.

  • A temporary crown will be made out of acrylic resin and fitted onto the tooth for one or two weeks while the permanent crown is being created.

  • During the next visit, the temporary crown will be replaced with the permanent crown.

  • Your Lakewood, CA cosmetic dentist will ensure that the crown has the proper look and fit before cementing it into place.

A bridge is a dental device that’s used to fill a gap where a tooth had previously occupied. Bridges will prevent the shifting of teeth that can ultimately lead to bite or jaw problems. They’ll also safeguard the integrity of existing teeth and help a patient maintain a healthy smile. There are three types of bridges:

  • Fixed bridge – This is the most popular type of bridge. It consists of a filler tooth that’s attached to two crowns that fit over the existing teeth and hold the bridge in place.

  • ‘Maryland’ bridge – This bridge is commonly used to replace missing front teeth. It consists of a filler that’s attached to metal bands that are bonded to the abutment teeth. The metal bands consist of a white-colored composite resin that matches a patient’s natural tooth color.

  • Cantilever bridge – This is often used when there are teeth only on one side of the span. A three-unit cantilever bridge will typically consist of two crowned teeth positioned next to each other on the same side of the missing tooth space. The filler tooth will then be connected to the two crowns, which extend into the missing tooth space or end.

Dental Implants

Dental implants are small, titanium posts that serve as artificial replacements for tooth roots. A dental implant is inserted into a patient’s jaw and after it has properly fused, a lifelike crown is placed on top of it, mimicking the look, feel, and function of a natural tooth. Dental implants can be used for:

  • Single tooth replacement

  • Anterior replacement

  • Posterior replacement

  • Full upper replacement

Dental implants require the same oral care that the rest of your teeth need. With proper oral hygiene, a dental implant can last a lifetime!

Composite Bonding

Composite bonding is used to improve the appearance of your teeth and enhance your smile. This is a quick and relatively inexpensive process (typically lasting under one hour) where composite material (either a plastic or resin) is bonded to an existing tooth. Unlike crowns or even veneers, composite bonding removes very little of the tooth’s original structure. Bonding can be a solution for fixing:

  • Chipped teeth

  • Cracked teeth

  • Discolored teeth

  • Gaps between teeth

While composite resins come in many different shades and are great at matching the natural color of your teeth, they unfortunately stain easily as well. In order to maintain the longest duration of the bonding possible, it’s important for you to keep up good oral hygiene.
